Empowering refugees, especially women & girls, in Karachi through leadership, mentorship, advocacy, education, healthcare, and skill development.
The Ameen Foundation for Refugees (AFRe) emerged from my own experiences of facing numerous challenges and rejections in pursuit of education. Growing up in a refugee camp, I witnessed firsthand the barriers that prevented many, especially women, from accessing quality education. These struggles fueled my determination to make a difference.
I began by teaching students in my home, hoping to provide them with the opportunities I had fought so hard to obtain. As time passed, it became clear that the need for educational support was immense, especially in refugee-dense areas and camps. My community's struggles motivated me to formalize my efforts and create a foundation dedicated to empowering refugees through education, advocacy, healthcare, leadership, mentorship, and skill development.
Our mission at AFRe is to break down the barriers that hinder refugees from achieving their potential and to provide a safe, supportive environment where they can learn and grow. Together, we can transform lives and build a brighter future for all.
